Italy

By 16:27

So recently myself and 19 of my class mates (including my sister) and 2 teachers went on the trip of a life time to Italy. We met lots of people including our tour guide for the whole 2 weeks Fausto (love ya Fausto) and our favorite people (sarcastically of course) 30 girls from a school in Sydney. We experienced everything from nightclubs with our teachers in Florence, to brothels in Pompeii, we had a pretty interesting trip. We visited Rome first, then Pompeii but just for a day, and the amazing place of Sorrento, where we went the beautiful island of Capri and here is a little taste of what it's like (and this was taken on an iPhone 4)

This place was actually the most photogenic place I have ever been to
Anyways after Sorrento we headed to Florence. All this time we were riding a bus around and that was scariest in Sorrento as it is on top of a hill with lots of twists and turns, and very narrow roads, but nonetheless it was an adventure. Florence was simply stunning, we had a cooking class there and the chef that was teaching us was cute and he kept laughing at our accents. He was cute. It was the most amazing place, and I am glad we went there, as we met some pretty cute boys from the Italian Air Force School as well, they were nice, and all spoke English. After a couple of days in Florence we went on a day trip to Verona, then Venice. Verona was amazing. We went to Juliet's house, and stood on her balcony, and touched her boob, and took lots of photos.

We then had some time to shop in the main strip you could say. As it was around lunch time, school had just gotten out. A boys school to be exact, so you can imagine all the cute guys we saw there. So many. Vencie was then equally amazing, but it was a lot of walking. Venice has no bikes, or cars, as they are forbidden, just walking. One night in particular stands out to me. It was our last night in Venice, and myself and a friend Eliza, decided we wanted to go to the Florian, a beautiful cafe in St. Marks Square. The Florian is the oldest cafe in Europe, opening in 1720. It was amazing there, and shortly after getting our hot chocolates, the waiter gave us 2 macaroons, and so we gracefully accepted and ate them. Upon receiving the bill, we found out we were not charged for the music fee, or the Macaroons, which was great as we got free Macaroons. After the Florian, that night we had been told to meet at St Marks Square at like 7 and because myself and Eliza, were by oursleves we didnt get the call that we were actually meeting back at the hotel, so we had to walk across Venice, having no idea how to get back to the hotel, stopping to ask for directions to somebody who spoke no English but we made it home just in time for dinner. Yet another adventure. That night, our last night in Venice was without a doubt the most fun night we had had in the whole trip, and the staff at the restaurant were probably sick of us. We laughed the whole night and made a ridiculous amount of noise.

But basically, Venice was probably the most fun place, as we soon realised our trip of a lifetime was nearly over.  The morning we left we did not leave until about midday, and so myself and a friend Olivia, decided we wanted to go on a bit of a walk, and we decided if we got lost we could just call it an adventure. Thankfully we didn't get lost, but we did explore some pretty unknown places. Of course in Venice we did all the touristy things like go on a Gondola

Overall it really was the trip of a life time. I have decided to continue with learning Italian for my last 2 years of school, and do it for my HSC, I learnt many things about the culture and language while over there, and made any friends with people I would not normally be friends with. Myslef and these 19 other peers all have a memory together to never forget, and if I could go back with these people I would without hesitation. Overall, Sorrento was the prettiest place, but Rome was my favourite, I fell in love with the people, cultural and just the general oldness of the place. I would live in Rome, and hopefully I will have the chance to live there one day.

If I ever go back, i would definitely go back to Rome, and possibly spend more time there then we did, and also visit Sicily, where my Grandfather is originally from. All in all, Italy is now my favourite place in the world, and I am truley gratefull my parents were able to let my go on this trip, with my sister so we could experience this together. I would just like to take a moment now to thank the teachers that went on the trip, for being understanding and replacing our parents while on this trip and also to Fausto out tour guide for the entirety of the trip, he was loving, and once told me he was out father on this trip. Thank you everybody for making our trip truly spectacular and making it possible.
